I always wonder…Why do so many people give up on their hopes, dreams, and goals so easily? Why don’t more people persevere?
It’s a question I ask because I see it so frequently. Friends, co-workers, openly admit to giving up just like that.
I try to live my life the opposite — one of my biggest fears is dying with regret. The regret of not knowing what I could have accomplished but didn’t because I was scared, didn’t work hard enough or gave up when it got tough.
Whether it’s a fitness goal, business idea, sports or another challenge in life I always try to see it through.
Giving up is easy, finishing a goal is hard.
As motivational speaker Ross Perot says, “Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one-yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown.”
One big lesson If Jack would have listened to others he would have accepted all the rejection and lived a life of mediocrity. Instead, he kept going, built an incredible business and impacts millions of lives every day.

Are you feeling fatigued lately? Are you experiencing too much sweating at night? Or are there any unusual lumps or moles in your body that suddenly showed up?
It’s easy to ignore these symptoms. However, if they happen more frequently and start to hinder your normal daily routine, it might be a sign that there is tumor growth.
Each cell in our bodies goes through a cycle. They can reproduce and replenish themselves when they become deficient or damaged, often without any problems.
However, things don’t always go as planned. These old or damaged cells can divide rapidly, passing abnormal copies of their DNA instead of eliminating the old cells. This eventually forms a tumor or mass that can be benign or malignant.
Keep reading to learn more about tumors, their causes, and the treatment options you need to know!
WHAT IS A TUMOR?
The National Cancer Institute defines a tumor as an abnormal growth of mass of tissue that results when cells divide abnormally or do not die when they should.
So, why do tumors occur?
Most normal cells grow, divide, and replace each other in healthy bodies. As new cells form, the old cells will die. However, new cells can also form from cancer cells even if the body doesn’t require them.
Tumors develop if the balance between cell growth and death is disrupted.
Not all tumors are cancerous. Some are benign, while others can be malignant and spread throughout the body.
Tumors can develop in bones, organs, and joints. Sometimes they can only be detected with imaging tests like an MRI or CT scan, PET scan, and endoscopy. A biopsy is often needed to examine the tumor under a microscope.
WHAT CAUSES TUMORS?
Most cancerous tumors are caused by DNA mutations within your cells. Your DNA is a collection of genes that controls how cells function, grow and divide. Disruption of cell growth happens if the DNA changes. This disconnection can lead to cancerous cells.
Many factors can cause your genes to become mutated, resulting in benign or malignant tumor growth:
Benzene and other toxic chemicals
Drinking too much alcohol
Environmental toxins, such as poisonous mushrooms or a type that can grow on peanuts (aflatoxins), are two examples of environmental toxins
Genetic problems
Obesity
Radiation exposure
Viruses
Age
Hormones
Smoking
immune disorder
HOW CAN TUMORS BE DETECTED?
Early diagnosis is crucial for benign tumors. This will allow you to determine its cause and plan for the necessary operations.
Tumors can be detected during a screening test such as:
X-ray
Ultrasound
Computed Tomography scans (CT scans)
After the initial imaging, doctors will perform the next diagnostic tests.
Lab tests are used to measure the levels of hormones and chemicals in urine and blood. If the fluids are high or low, a pathologist might diagnose cancer.
Diagnostic imaging allows doctors to access the body to identify cancerous cells. The most common imaging procedures include MRI, CT, ultrasound, PET scan, X-ray, and CT scan. If a tumor is found, the radiologists will assess the images and determine whether it is cancerous or benign.
A biopsy is performed to examine the tumor and determine if it is cancerous. The test involves the collection of a sample of tumor tissue that can then be examined under the microscope by pathologists.
HOW DO DOCTORS TREAT TUMORS?
The following treatment options may be used alone or in combination to treat tumors:
Surgery. Benign tumors are often surgically removed.
Chemotherapy. These drugs are administered to take down cancer cells and/or to stop their growth and spread. It affects the entire body.
Chemoembolization. The procedure targets cancer at its source, maximizing the effectiveness of the drugs while minimizing harm to healthy cells and reducing side effects for the patient.
Radiation Therapy. Targeted beams of radiation can kill cancer cells. New technology allows pinpoint accuracy, with the goal of minimizing radiation exposure to healthy surrounding cells.
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA). To reach the tumor, specialists place a needle under the skin. Radiofrequency energy is used to heat and scar tissue.
Cryoablation. Similar to RFA, it is minimally invasive and uses a needle to remove the tumor. It uses radiofrequency heat instead of extremely cold gas.
Tumor Ablation. An image-guided procedure in which tumors are removed using extreme temperatures.
Immunotherapy. Immunotherapy drugs either help boost the immune system so that it has more strength to fight cancer cells; or they can target and destroy certain proteins, or receptors, on cancer cells to prevent them from outmaneuvering the immune system.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed Highlanders FC gaffer Brito Baltemar as head coach of the Warriors.
ZIFA announced this in a statement published on its official Twitter handle. Brito Baltemar Jose Oliveira will lead the senior men’s team with immediate effect until June 2024. On Tuesday, ZIFA wrote to Highlanders requesting to engage Brito as Warriors head coach.Speaking after appointing Brito, ZIFA said:
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is pleased to inform the nation that it has appointed Baltemar Brito as the head coach of the senior men’s team forthwith until June 2024. He will be assisted by Bongani Mafu and Genesis Mangombe.
“The Normalisation Committee (NC) settled for the trio after an extensive recruitment and consultative process based on regional, continental, and global confederations’ guidelines. The NC set the coaches’ term of engagement to end at the same time with its mandate so that the next board will have the opportunity to recruit its own coaches.”Brito, Mafu and Mangombe’s first assignment will be the invitational match to celebrate Botswana’s Independence Day on 30 September. They will then mould a team that will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November, ZIFA added.
Yesterday, Highlanders fans objected to the move to recruit Brito as Zimbabwe Warriors head coach. ZIFA has assured local football fans that Brito and Mangombe will still coach their clubs:“ZIFA would like to thank Highlanders FC and Dynamos for allowing their coaches to serve the nation. The coaches will remain with their clubs and will be reporting for national assignments as and when required to do so.”
Brito coaches Highlanders while Mangombe leads Dynamos. Mafu was suspended two weeks ago by Premier Soccer League side Hwange FC after a series of poor results.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has noted with concern that there are several messages circulating on social media with regards to challenges faced on conversion of Zimbabwean drivers’ licences to British drivers’ licences.
This article attempts to answer some of the questions that Zimbabwean drivers are faced with.
1. Is the British Government still recognising the Zimbabwean driver’s licence?
Yes, they do, but there are unconfirmed reports that some Zimbabweans have been using fake metal driver’s licences and sadly end up being involved or causing road traffic accidents. This has led to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the United Kingdom (UK) to demand Certificates of Competency upon request for conversion of the Zimbabwean Licence to a British Licence.
2. I have lost my certificate of competency and it’s a requirement on conversion of a licence, can I get a duplicate certificate?
The current system does not have a provision for a duplicate Certificate of Competency considering that at law it is only valid for thirty (30) days. However, the Ministry is in the process of engaging DVLA so that they do not request for a Certificate of Competency upon request for a conversion of a driver’s licence.
3. I have passed class two driver’s licence and was awarded class 2, 4 and 5. DVLA is refusing to convert my licence to allow me to drive classes 4 and 5 only. They want me to drive class two only. Is it possible for one to downgrade?
Most drivers who were tested for class 2, did not go through parallel parking and three-point turn tests. DVLA has concerns that they have inadequate skills. The Ministry has made a provision that members be tested for class four so that they are certified competent for the required skills in the relevant class.
4. I submitted an application request for a conversion of my licence to DVLA and was initially rejected on the basis that I should attach a Certificate of Competency. Is it ok if I get a similar one not from VID because I lost the original?
It is not allowed to present fake Certificate of Competency to DVLA or any licencing authority. Applicants risk losing their valid drivers’ licences. Drivers are requested to follow correct channels of having their licences converted without engaging in any illicit behaviour.
5. DVLA is failing to contact CVR. How can we be assisted if we want our licences verified?
CVR is in touch with DVLA on a daily basis. The current emails to contact CVR are registrarcvr@gmail.com, ddcvr1@gmail.com and ddcvr2@gmail.com. Alternatively, concerned citizens are free to approach their respective embassies for assistance.
